Little Women
Little Women chronicles the lives, loves and tribulations of four sisters growing up during the American Civil War. As they progress towards womanhood, the four very different characters the adorable Meg, skilful Jo, delicate Beth and pampered Amy strive to achieve their personal ambitions in love, in work and in family life. Each learns important lessons. The novel is said to be a family drama that truly depicts the lives of women in the nineteenth century. It is loosely based on Louisa May Alcott’s own experiences growing up in New England with her parents and three sisters. First published in 1868, it has never lost its extraordinary power to move and delight readers of all ages.
